Electronic Practice-Based Research Network

clinical data research

The Electronic Practice Based Research Network (ePBRN) project is based at the UNSW Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity. Its aim is to establish the ePBRN as a virtual lab to develop, test and share eResearch tools to support accurate and high quality research on chronic illness prevention & management. Intersect was involved in analysing the methods and tools used in this virtual lab project, in order to confirm their viability.

The successful achievement of this objective is potentially significant in terms of sharing existing information for conducting high-quality multi-centre research and evaluation in primary care. More specifically, this system will extract, link, assess, and manage information from large databases of routinely collected data in order to provide high-quality data for multi-centre research, audit, planning and clinical decision support purposes. It has established the tools and methodology and is now recruiting beyond the pilot phase, focused on a SW Sydney ePBRN and planning for a NSW-wide ePBRN.
