We are excited to announce that registration for the 3rd collaborative graduate-level course, titled HPC and Data in Computational Fluid Dynamics, has been open for registration since 29th of July 2023. This 12-week long course, from Tuesday 29th Aug to Thursday 23rd Nov, is to be delivered as a live online interactive event by an array of internationally renowned professors and scientists from 12 institutions for Australian based PhD students, early career researchers and beyond.

The bespoke curriculum includes diverse aspects of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) such as introduction to CFD and HPC, hypersonics, aeroacoustics, turbulent flows, combustion, fluid-solid interaction in the context of oil and gas production, geophysical fluid dynamics, Antarctic ice melting and the Southern Ocean dynamics, and industrial research showcases. It aims to support PhD students and researchers working on large or complex CFD problems and requiring HPC and data tools to maximize their research impact.

Two deliveries each week encompassing altogether 18 topical lectures (1 hour) and 6 hands-on tutorials (1.25 – 1.5 hours). With guidance and support from independent Organizing Committee members including A/Prof Bishakhdatta Gayen (UniMelb), Dr Rowan Gollan (UQ), A/Prof Christopher Leonardi (UQ), Prof Richard Sandberg (UniMelb), and Prof Sean Smith (NCI/ANU), Intersect Education functions as the main facilitator in planning, co-organising and coordinating this collaboratively taught, interactive venture. In collaboration with Intersect, NCI Training provides tutorial resourcing and HPC training towards the course for new and emerging HPC users coming through the collaborative graduate education (CGE) initiative.

Intersect continues to be a proud and strong supporter for the CGE initiative for the third consecutive year. This initiative aligns with the vision and values at Intersect in helping Australian researchers to research faster by rapidly ramping up their research capabilities in HPCD and other digital methods.
