University of Wollongong

University of Wollongong (UOW) joined Intersect in January 2010.

The University of Wollongong is committed to the provision of technology that will support research excellence. In 2010 the UOW eResearch initiative commenced, with the objective of improving access to advanced ICT for UOW researchers in all disciplines.

eResearch Analyst

Peter Bugeia is the lead of the team of Intersect eResearch Analysts working at UOW while Elaine Gully is on maternity leave.

Peter is available for individual or group meetings.

Projects

The University has been involved in the following projects:

  • Entree
    UOW led the Entree Innovation project. This project is an Intersect innovation project in collaboration with the Atlas of Living Australia involving Australia’s Virtual Herbarium , The University of Wollongong, Southern Cross University and The University of New England. The Janet Cosh Herbarium at UOW has a collection that focuses on plants from south eastern New South Wales, including Sydney and the South Coast.

  • ANDS Seeding the Commons
    As part of the ANDS project to create and develop an Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC also known as RDA - Research Data Australia), UOW received funding for a Seeding the Commons project. This project commenced in July 2010 and will run for 12 months. More information about the project can be found here

  • ANDS Data Capture projects
    UOW also received ANDS funding for data capture projects. The first of these projects is pending approval and will start in Q4 2010. More information about this project will be available soon.

  • DataWise
    Recently announced by the DVC(R), DataWise is a University approved strategic project. The project is a co-operative venture between the Research Services Office, the University Library and Information Technology Services (ITS). More information about the project can be found here
